Fan oder Spieler? - Fan or Player?
... was the theme of today's service. A lot of excitement was in the air as the teams from Singapore and the USA were introduced to the Berlin SüdWest Corps. After receiving a blessing and being "sent out", the team sang a song. Major Walz used the situation of Zaccheus in his Bible message, comparing it with the situation of a person who changed from being a spectator to being an activist because Jesus called him and he responded. "We can wear our team's colours (Salvation Army uniform) 365 days of the year and still just be a spectator. We have to come down from our pedestal onto the field of the game of life. Because here it's for real and not just a game: It is about real living instead of losing life," was the essence of Major Walz's message. Following the service the teams went out into the neighbourhood, together with the band, to invite people to the Kickoff cafè in the Army hall.

The service started with a humourous sketch: One of the fans was invited to play for a team and accepted this challenge (above). Major Ruth Walz introduced the teams to the congregation in the morning service (below).
Inviting the neighbours with banners and bonnets (well, almost!) - conversation took place, here with one of the translators for the English speaking teams.
