Ciao, ragazzi!

Es ist plötzlich so ruhig hier. Beim Gottesdienst ist keine Übersetzung mehr notwendig, die babylonische Sprachverwirrung hat rapide abgenommen, es fliegen kaum noch Fußbälle durch die Gegend, man hört nicht mehr die halbe Nacht lang Michaels Redestrom und Dianas Lachen quer über den Hof (tolle Akustik!). Aber wir werden uns nicht nur daran erinnern, sondern auch an die ständige Bereitschaft des ganzen Teams (einschließlich Jeff und Minjie!), Kriegsrufe und Kickoff-Material zu verteilen oder sich für alle möglichen Kleinigkeiten oder größere Aufgaben zur Verfügung zu stellen – und an einige andere Dinge… Tja, jetzt sind sie auch weg, unsere Amis. Heute findet das Endspiel statt, dann beginnt für uns (endlich?!) das Leben nach der WM, der Alltag kehrt zurück. Kein Fußball – was sollen wir bloß mit der ganzen freien Zeit anstellen? Es wird uns schon etwas einfallen. Und sie? Sie sind unterwegs nach Rom und erleben heute und in den nächsten Tagen die Italiener als Weltmeister oder Vizeweltmeister. Der nächste Einsatz wartet schon – auf ins Jugendsoldatencamp!
Andreas, Angelika, Annette, Austin, Beat, Carina, Carmen, Christa, Christin, Diana, Frank, Franziska, Ingrid, Jan, Jenny, Jeff, Kersten, Matthias, Michael, Miriam, Minjie, Poldi, Rachel, Ruth, Tobias und alle anderen, die sich am Café, Kinderprogramm und den Verteilaktionen beteiligt oder im Hintergrund geholfen haben, vielen Dank für eure Unterstützung! Ohne euch wäre in diesen vier Wochen vieles nicht möglich gewesen. Gottes Segen euch allen!

Suddenly it has become very quiet around here. It is no longer necessary to translate the worship, the Babylonian language confusion has subsided, there are hardly any more footballs flying through the air, and you won't hear Michael's continual talking and Diana's laughing resounding across the courtyard late at night (the acoustics here are great!). It is not only these things which we will remember, but that the team (including Jeff and Minjie!) was readily willing to hand out War Crys and other Kickoff materials or to do any other menial or larger task which was needed at any one time. Today is the final game, then life after the World Cup (at long last?), normal everday life will begin. No football - what are we going to do with the spare time on our hands? I'm sure that we will all find something to do. And the team? They are on their way to Rome and will experience the Italians today and in the days to come as World Champions or the runners up. The next assignment is waiting for them- so off with them to the Junior Soldiers' camp!
